Black Forest Cake is made with layers of chocolate. The chocolate layers are sandwiched with cherries and fresh cream. It is topped with the chocolate shavings. In India and Pakistan, Black Forest Cake is made without Alcohol.
Ingredients for the Cake Sponge:
Flour 1 cup
Milk ½ cup
Baking powder 1 tsp
Melted Butter ½ cup
Ground Sugar 1/2 cup
Cocoa Powder 4 tbsp
Ingredients for the Chocolate Glaze / Ganache:
Fresh Cream 1 Cup
Chocolate Chips 1 Cup
Ingredients for Cake Decoration:
Chocolate balls 1 Packet
Mix Canned Fruits 1 Can
Whipped Cream 1 Cup
Cherries 1 Tin
Pineapple Juice ½ Cup
Sprinkles / Grated Chocolate (Optional) As Required
Cake Sponge Recipe:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Butter a pan, dust it with some flour and set aside. Whisk together the ground sugar, melted butter, eggs, cocoa powder, baking powder in a bowl. Add flour and fold it with the batter properly. Also add milk to bring a smooth consistency. Pour the batter into the pan. Bake in the oven for 25 – 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Set the cake sponge aside and let it cool on the room temperature.
Ganache or Chocolate Glaze Recipe:
Take a glass bowl and add chocolate chips and fresh cream in it. You can put this bowl into a microwave for 2-3 minutes to dissolve the chocolate or you can also use water bath to dissolve it. For water bath, heat up about 1 inch water in a deep frying pan. Place the glass bowl directly in the water. Keep stirring the chocolate and cream mixture until it is melted. Set it cool on the room temperature. Chocolate glaze or Ganache is ready for cake topping.
Black Forest Cake Decoration:
Slice the Cake Sponge into 2 layers of equal thickness. Now moisten the cake halves with pineapple juice to make it wet and soft. Take chilled whipped cream (not frozen) and beat it until it becomes fluffy. Now apply whipped cream over one slice and make a bed of mix canned fruits over it. Cover it with another half of cake sponge. Apply whipped cream on the cake sides. Level the cream with a knife.
Now pour the Chocolate Glaze or Ganache over the cake in a manner that it flows down from the cake sides and make a nice texture. Level the Chocolate Glaze on the cake top with a knife. Now take a whipping bag and fill it with the whipped cream. Fix any nozzle of your choice and start making flowers or different designs on your cake. Put Cherries on the whipped cream flowers. Make a circle of Chocolate balls. Dust the cake with grated chocolate or with the sprinkles of different colors. Fresh Black Forest Cake is ready to serve.
