Fondant Cake

Fondant Cake is very famous for wedding ceremonies and birthday parties. These are cakes with attractive and eye catching decoration. You can make nearly everything and every design by using cake fondant. Here, we are proving an easy method to make and design cake fondant. Ingredients for Cake Sponge:

White Flour                                                                                    1 cup

Melted Butter                                                                                ½ cup

Vanilla Essence                                                                              3-4 drops

Eggs                                                                                                  2

Baking Powder                                                                               1 tsp

Vanilla Essence                                                                              3-4 drops

Ground Sugar                                                                                 ½ cup


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Butter a pan and set aside. Whisk together the ground sugar, melted butter, eggs and baking powder in a bowl. Add flour and fold it with the batter properly. Also add milk to bring a smooth consistency. Add vanilla essence. Mix well. Bake in the oven for 25 – 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cake Layering:

Let cake cool for about 10 minutes. Slice the cake sponge into three equal layers. Take 1 cup whipping cream and beat it until it becomes fluffy and double in quantity. Spread the whipping cream between layers, on top and sides of the cake.

Melted Butter                                                                                3 tbsp

Confectioner’s Sugar                                                                    8 Cups

Water                                                                                              2 tbsp

Marshmallows                                                                                2 Cups

Put marshmallows in a glass bowl and add butte r in it. Also add 2 tbsp of water. Now put it into a microwave for about 2 minutes to melt marshmallows OR you can also melt them over a stove by using water bath technique. Once marshmallows are melted, add confectioner’s sugar and knead the dough till it is smooth. You can divide the fondant and add a couple drops of food coloring to create various colors. Be creative and have fun with the fondant. Put the cake inside the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Dust a smooth work surface with powdered sugar. Roll out the fondant until it is about 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick. Place the rolling pin at one end of the fondant & roll it towards the opposite end, picking the fondant as you go. Place the rolling pin down on top of the cake and roll it towards the other end, unwinding the fondant. Smooth down the top and sides by using your fingers. Make sure that there are no folds, wrinkles, or air bubbles.

Trim off any excess fondant. Smooth the surface of the fondant with a flat-sided glass or a fondant smoothing tool. You can leave the cake as it is, or you can add decorations to it by using whipping cream or fondant of different colors. For fondant decoration, you can add different colors to the fondant dough and use fondant cutting tools to create beautiful designs and paste them on the cake. Fondant Cake is ready to serve.
