Nargisi Kofta Curry

Nargisi Kofta curry is prepared with spicy meat balls stuffed with whole eggs. This is a traditional dish in Asian countries. People love to make it with different varieties. Some people cook koftas with a liquidy curry or gravy and some like this dish with a dense and thick gravy. You can also add potato wages in the curry to make it more tasteful. Nargisi Kofta Curry

Ingredients for Koftas:

Beef Mince                                           500 grams

Eggs (Boiled)                                         6

Onion (Chopped)                                 1

Green Chili (Chopped)                        6

Fresh Coriander (Chopped)               ½ Cup

Mint (Chopped)                                    ½ Cup

Garam Masala Powder                        ½ tsp

Red Chili Powder                                 1 tsp

Cumin Seeds Powder                          1 tsp

Coriander Powder                               1 tsp

Turmeric Powder                                 ¼ tsp

Salt                                                          1 tsp

Roasted Chana (Powdered)               ½ Cup

Rice Flour                                              ½ Cup

Oil                                                           to fry

Ingredients for Gravy:

Onion Paste                                          1 Cup

Tomato Paste                                        1 Cup

Garlic Paste                                           1 tbsp.

Ginger Paste                                         1 tbsp.

Yogurt                                                    1 Cup

Red Chili Powder                                 1 tsp

Coriander Powder                               1 tsp

Turmeric Powder                                 ¼ tsp

Salt                                                          1 tsp

Cumin Seeds Powder                          1 tsp

Black Peppercorns                              8 – 10

Cloves                                                    7 – 8

Cinnamon Stick (1 inch pieces)         4 – 5

Bay Leaves                                            3 – 4

Green Cardamom                                 5 – 6

Black Cardamom                                  3 – 4

Garam Masala Powder                        ½ tsp

Fresh Coriander (Chopped)               For Garnishing

Oil                                                           1 Cup

Nargisi Kofta Curry

Method:

To Prepare Nargisi Koftas:

Take mince in a large bowl and add all ingredients i.e. Onion, Green Chili, Fresh Coriander, Mint, Garam Masala Powder, Red Chili Powder, Cumin Seeds Powder, Coriander Powder, Turmeric Powder, Salt and Roasted Chana Powder. Mix the mince properly with all the ingredients. Now take an egg and a portion of mince. Wrap the mince around the egg to make a thick layer of ½ inch. Use your hands to make a smooth and even casing around the egg. Repeat this process also with the remaining eggs. Now coat these Nargisi koftas with the rice flour. Heat up the oil in a work and deep fry these koftas till golden in color.

To Prepare the Gravy:

Take a deep cooking pan and heat up some oil in it. Now add Black Peppercorns, Cloves, Cinnamon Stick, Bay Leaves, Green Cardamom and Black Cardamom. Fry for a minutes while stirring. Now take a bowl and mix ingredients i.e. Onion Paste, Tomato Paste, Garlic Paste, Ginger Paste, Yogurt, Red Chili Powder, Coriander Powder, Turmeric Powder    and Salt. Mix all these ingredients really well to make a thick paste. Add this paste into the cooking pan and keep stirring. Cook the gravy on medium heat for 8 – 10 minutes until the oil separates from the curry.

Nargisi Kofta Curry

Nargisi Kofta Curry:

Now take the fried Nargisi Koftas and add them into the gravy. Sprinkle cumin seeds powder and Garam masala powder. Garnish with chopped fresh coriander and cover the lid for 5 minutes so that all flavors can be amalgamate with the gravy. You can serve this Nargisi Kofta Curry with boiled rice, Nan or chapatti.
