Valentine’s Day Dessert Ideas

The day of romance “Valentine’s Day” is celebrated each year on 14th February. People make valentine’s day dessert on this day. Couples exchange cards, gifts, flowers and chocolates on this day. People treat their special ones by cooking an intimate meal, then complete the feast by enjoying a decadent sweet dish. Here are some romantic dessert ideas to make your day more special.

  1. Chocolate Strawberries:

Rinse strawberries and dry with paper towels. Melt dark chocolate chips with some shortening. Dip lower half of strawberries into chocolate. Place them on a cookie sheet and refrigerate for 30 minutes. You can also drizzle melted white chocolate on the strawberries to make them more tempting. Serve chilled.

  1. Red Velvet Cupcakes:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cupcake pans and line with paper cups. In a bowl mix ½ cup butter, ½ cup ground sugar, 2 eggs, 1 tsp liquid red food color, 1 tsp vanilla essence, 1 tsp baking powder and 1 tbsp vinegar to make a smooth batter. Now add 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1/3 cup cocoa powder and 1 tsp salt and mix them slowly. Spoon the batter into the paper cups. Bake them for 20 – 25 minutes. Arrange the cup cakes on a platter and decorate with your desired frosting.

  1. Chocolate Cherries:

Drain Cherries and dry them with a paper towel. In a bowl melt 3 tbsp corn syrup and 3 tbsp butter to bring a smooth consistency. Now add 2 cups confectioner’s sugar and knead dough. Wrap all cherries in 1 tsp of dough and freeze them until firm. Now melt 1 cup chocolate confectioner’s coating in a bowl and dip all cherries to make a thick covering. Refrigerate to set completely.

  1. Red Velvet Sandwich Cookies:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix together ½ cup butter, ½ cup ground sugar, 2 eggs, 1 tsp liquid red food color, 1 tsp vanilla essence, 1 tsp baking powder and 1 tbsp vinegar to make a smooth batter. In the end, add 2 cup all-purpose flour, 1/3 cup cocoa powder and 1 tsp salt and just fold slowly to make thick dough. Now roll the dough into the walnut size balls and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 8 minutes until the cookie tops begin to crack. In a bowl mix 1 cup cream cheese, ½ cup butter, 1 tsp vanilla essence and 1 cup confectioner’s sugar. Now spread this icing on the bottom of a cookie and sandwich it with another cookie. Red velvet sandwich cookies are ready to serve.

  1. Chocolate Lava Cake:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Grease 4 soufflé dishes and place them on a baking sheet. Melt 1 cup chocolate chips with ½ cup of butter and add ½ cup powdered sugar and mix well. Now add 2 whole eggs and 3 egg yolks. Also mix ½ cup of all-purpose flour and fold properly. Pour the mixture into the soufflé dishes. Bake them for 10 minutes until they are firm from outside and soft from inside. Invert the lava cakes on a platter and serve with vanilla ice cream.

  1. Chocolate Truffles:

Cook and melt 1 cup of Chocolate chips with ½ cup of cream over medium heat. Remove from heat and add 1 tsp vanilla essence and mix well. Refrigerate for 2 hours. Now make small balls with the chilled batter and allow them cool overnight. Roll in cocoa powder and store in the freezer until needed.

  1. Valentine’s Pie:

To make pie crust, mix together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 cup cold butter, 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp sugar. Knead hard dough with ice water. Refrigerate the dough for 1 hour. Now roll it according to your pie dish size. Carefully place it inside the pie dish. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put some dry beans or rice over the pie crust for weight. Bake with weight for 20 mins then remove the dry beans and cook for another 10 minutes until the crust becomes golden in color. Cool before filling it in. Beat together 1 cup cream cheese and 1 cup confectioner’s sugar. Add vanilla essence and 1 cup whipped cream and fold gently. Transfer this batter into the pie crust. Top it with the cherries sauce and refrigerate for 1 hour before serving.

  1. Chocolate Sorbet:

Mix 2 cups of water with 1 cup sugar, ½ cup cocoa powder, pinch of salt and ½ tsp vanilla essence. Cook this mixture over medium heat for 1 minute while stirring. Add ½ cup chocolate chips and whisk constantly until melted. Blend till frothy and chill into the refrigerator for 2 hours. Again blend with hand mixer and freeze till set. Serve chilled with cherries on top.
