Chana Daal Paratha is crispy gram lentil filled chapatti. It is fried with some ghee or butter. Gram lentil stuffing is bit spicy and it has a great combination of fresh coriander, green chilies and onion. This is an amazing dish for the breakfast. People love to eat it with pickle and yogurt.
Ingredients for Chana Daal Stuffing:
Chana Daal / Gram Lentil 250 grams
Onion (finely chopped) 1
Salt To taste
Red Chili Powder 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder 1/3 tsp
Green Chili (finely chopped) 3 – 4
Fresh Coriander (finely chopped) ½ cup
Cumin Seeds Powder 1 tsp
Lemon Juice 1 tbsp
Garam Masala Powder ½ tsp
Ingredients for Paratha Dough:
Flour 250 grams
Salt ½ tsp
Water As required to Knead
Oil / Ghee / Clarified Butter for frying
Method for Chana Daal Stuffing:
Soak chana daal or gram lentil for 3 – 4 hrs. Now boil chana daal till it becomes soften and pasty. Daal or lentil should be completely dried otherwise you will not be able to make parathas. Mash chana daal and add chopped onion, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, green chili, lemon juice, fresh coriander, cumin seeds powder and garam masala powder. Cook it on medium flame for 5 – 8 mins while stirring. Chana daal is ready for stuffing.
Method to Make Chana Daal Stuffed Parathas:
Knead the dough with flour, salt and water. Make small balls of the dough and roll them flat. Put some daal in the center of the rolled out dough. Now put other rolled out dough of the same size on the top and seal and press the edges with your finger tips. Roll the stuffed dough gently and dust with more flour if required. Roll it into a size of normal roti or chapatti. Now heat the frying pan and fry these Parathas with some oil or clarified butter till golden brown. Serve the Chana Daal Stuffed Parathas with Yogurt, Pickle or Chutney.
