Orange Cake has a great and delicious orange flavor. It is very soft and juicy. This cake is prepared during the winters when fresh oranges are in season. Fresh orange juice is also used in the recipe that makes the cake more spongy and flavorful. You can also add orange zest to a tempting orange fruit aroma. Orange cake is a very good cake type for the people who love orange flavor.
Ingredients for Cake Sponge:
Melted Butter ½ cup
Powdered Sugar ½ cup
All-Purpose Flour 1 cup
Baking Powder 1 tsp
Eggs 3
Orange Zest 1 tbsp
Orange Juice ½ cup
Method:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Butter a pan and set aside. Take two bowls and separate egg yolks and egg whites. Whisk together the ground sugar, melted butter, egg yolks, baking powder and orange zest in a bowl. Also add orange juice to bring a smooth consistency. Whip the egg whites to make thick foam. Now mix the egg whites into the cake batter. Pour the batter into the pan. Bake it for 20 – 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Orange Cake sponge is ready.
Ingredients for Orange Glaze:
Fresh Cream 1 cup
White Chocolate Chips 1 cup
Vanilla Essence 1 tsp
Orange Food Color 3 – 4 drops
Butter 1 tbsp
Powdered Milk 1 tbsp
Orange Flavored Tang 1 tbsp
Method:
Take a glass bowl and add chocolate chips, fresh cream and butter in it. You can place the bowl inside a microwave at least for 3 minutes to melt the white chocolate or you can also place the bowl in water bath to melt it. For this method, heat up 2 inch water in a deep pan. Put the bowl inside the water. Keep mixing the white chocolate and cream mixture until it dissolves. Add few drops of vanilla essence, orange tang, dried milk and orange color. Mix well. Set it cool on the room temperature. Orange glaze is ready for cake topping.
Ingredients for Cake Topping:
Orange Food Color 2 – 3 drops
Orange Juice ½ Cup
Whipped Cream 1 Cup
Orange Slices 6 – 8
Orange Flavored Tang 1 tsp
Cake Decoration:
Slice the Cake Sponge into 2 layers of equal thickness. Now moisten the cake halves with orange juice to make it wet and soft. Take chilled whipped cream (not frozen) and beat it until it becomes fluffy. Add orange food color and orange flavored tang. Mix well. Now apply whipped cream over one slice and make a bed of orange slices over it. Now cover it with another half of cake sponge.
Apply whipped cream on the cake sides. Level the cream with a knife. Now pour the Orange Glaze over the cake in a manner that it flows down from the cake sides and covers the cake. Level the orange glaze on the cake top with a knife. Now take a whipping bag and fill it with the whipped cream. Put any nozzle and make flowers or designs on the cake. Place orange slices on the top to make it more tempting. Orange flavored Cake is ready to serve.
