Chili Powder
Salt
Vinegar
Black pepper
Oil
Samosa Dough:
All-Purpose Flour
Oil
Salt
Caraway Seeds (Ajwain) 1/2 tsp
Water
Tuna Fish Samosa Method:
Prepare Samosa Dough:
To make tuna fish samosa, we will knead the samosa dough first. To do this, take a deep bowl and add all-purpose flour, salt and caraway seeds. Now mix all these dry ingredients well. Add oil and rub it with the flour to give it a crumbly texture. In the end, add water slowly and keep mixing the dough with your hand. Remember, do not add too much water as we need a hard but smooth and non-sticky dough. Now knead the dough for 4 – 5 minutes and make sure there are no lumps in the dough. Cover it with a wet thin cloth and keep it aside at least for 20 minutes.
Prepare Tuna Fish Stuffing:
Now take a frying pan and heat up some oil in it. Add ginger garlic paste and fry for 2 minutes. Now add chopped onion and fry until it becomes translucent. Add tuna fish (boiled or canned) and stir fry it for 4 – 5 minutes. Now add all other ingredients such as salt, red chili powder, chili flakes, black pepper and vinegar. Mix and fry this mixture for another 4 – 5 minutes. Make sure there is no moisture remained in the stuffing. It should be dry and moisture free to make crispy samosas. In the end, also add chopped green chili and fresh coriander. Mix well and keep it aside to cool down on room temperature.
Tuna Fish Samosa Assembling:
Take samosa dough and divide it into 1 inch balls. Now roll out each ball to make a thin round chapati. Take 2 tbsp of tuna fish stuffing and put it in the center of the chapati in a linear vertical manner. Now take a knife and make the diagonal cuts on the right and left sides of the chapati. Make the cuts in a way that you get around 6 – 8 stripes on both sides. Now roll these stripes one by one around the fish stuffing. To give it a fish shape, take a stripe from the right side and place it over the stuffing.
Now take a stripe from the left side and place it over the stuffing in a way that it makes a triangular mouth shape of the fish. Keep repeating the procedure and cover the fish stuffing with the dough stripes one by one. At the end, join all the stripes properly to avoid any opening in the dough. Take a fork and press it on the tale area to give it a fin texture. Now take a clove and insert it in the fish head to make an eye. Repeat this process with all the dough balls. You can make around 6 – 8 tuna fish samosas like this.
Frying Fish Samosas:
Take a deep wok and heat up oil for deep frying. Remember, never fry samosas on high flame. Otherwise, they will burn quickly and they will not get a crispy texture. Keep the flame medium low and slowly fry the samosas while stirring. So that, they turn light golden brown in color and become crispy from outside. Once, tuna fish samosas are fried, pat dry them with tissue to remove the excess oil and serve them hot with ketchup or green chatni. This recipe is a perfect item for Iftar in Ramadan.
